Complying with the NYC Earned Sick Time Act
New Date: Wednesday, January 11, 2017
10:00 am – 11:00 am
Sponsored by Sandata
The New York City Earned Sick Time Act has been in effect since 2014, and the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs has begun to vigorously audit and investigate complaints of noncompliance by home care agencies. Failure to properly notify employees of their entitlements to sick time leave under the Act exposes your agency to a $500 penalty, per employee, per year, among other penalties. This can add up to potentially devastating fines and lawsuits. If your employees are working or will potentially work within New York City this webinar applies to you!
New York City Providers should attend this webinar to learn:
• Key requirements of the Earned Sick Time Act and how the Earned Sick Time Act interacts with other leave laws (e.g., Family and Medical Leave Act) and time off policies.
• An overview of how the Department of Consumer Affairs conducts audits of employers covered by the Act and offer suggestions on how agencies should respond to audits.
• A better understanding of the NYC Earned Sick Time Act requirements and measures that may mitigate exposure to penalties.
• How to handle audits by the Department of Consumer Affairs.
