Home care is a solution to controlling New York's Medicaid costs
New York appears to finally be getting serious about using home care
to keep the State's elderly and disabled in their own homes-not only where they want to be but
where they can be cared for on a most cost-effective basis. The State's new Governor, Eliot Spitzer
used his 2007 State of the State address to say that "We must shift spending away from expensive
institutional nursing homes toward community and home-based alternatives."
HCP full supports a realigment of State resources toward home and community-based care as
being the coste-effective solution.
