HCP has been made aware of three events that will be of great interest to our members as they strive to get their workforces vaccinated against COVID-19. As supplies of these vaccines increase in NYS, it will become increasingly important for home care providers to be aware of, and make efforts to reduce, vaccine hesitancy among home care workers. Senator Rivera Town Hall on COVID-19 Vaccine: February 4, 6:30 pm

Sponsored by Let’s Get Immunized New York (LGINY), Bronx Senator Gustavo Rivera will participate in a Town Hall tonight, Thursday, February 4, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. As Chair of the NYS Senate Health Committee, Senator Rivera hopes to increase COVID-19 vaccine acceptance, especially in communities of color, where vaccination rates are lagging. Providers are encouraged to share this information with their staff, community and on social media.

New York City COVID-19 Vaccine Town Hall: February 5, Noon

The NYU Community Health Worker Research & Resource Center (CHW-RRC) is hosting a COVID-19 Vaccine Town Hall which will address vaccine hesitancy and how to increase uptake, as well as inform you of the latest developments in vaccine distribution. The event will be held on Friday, February 5, from 12 noon to 2:00 pm. It is designed specifically for community health workers, patient navigators, and other frontline staff working in New York City. Vaccine safety and efficacy will be discussed, and NYU Langone will moderate a Q&A session at the end of the presentation.  See the event flyer here. NYC DOHMH Update on COVID-19 for New York City Healthcare Providers: February 5, 1:00 pm

This Friday’s New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYCDOHMH) health care provider webinar will feature Dr. Martha Iwamoto, Epidemiology and Adverse Effects, COVID-19 Vaccination Operations Center. Dr. Iwamoto will address clinical considerations and safety monitoring for COVID-19 vaccines, as well as moderate a Q&A session. Also presenting from the Operations Center are Dr. Bindy Crouch, who often presents on the topics of vaccination and disease, and Dr. Jennifer Rosen who will discuss vaccine hesitancy. The event is Friday, February 5 from 1:00 pm -2:00 pm. Register here.
