HCP Calls on the Legislature and Governor to Reject Cuts to
Health Care in State Budget

Today, NYS Association of Health Care Providers President and CEO Kathy Febraio,
commended Governor Cuomo for his leadership in managing the COVID outbreak.
‘Governor Cuomo’s work to stop the spread of COVID-19 has keenly demonstrated his
compassion and forethought to ensure the health and safety of those in New York and
beyond.’ Febraio said.

She continued, ‘But at this time of urgent need, New Yorkers cannot afford draconian
budget cuts to health care and Medicaid. I implore Majority Leader Stewart Cousins,
Speaker Heastie and Governor Cuomo to reject the proposals put forth by the Governor’s
Medicaid Redesign Team.’

‘At this time in history with the lives of so many at stake, the State must invest in health
care, and in particular home care, to ensure that New York can keep it’s frail and elderly
safe and healthy in their own homes and communities keeping them out of hospitals and
nursing homes, which are facing an unprecedented health care crisis.’

Febraio concluded, ‘Now more than ever, the State must invest in home care!’
