Lawmakers and the public see no letters, no headlines, no stories — so they assume agencies are content with rates that don’t even cover the cost of care or unsustainably narrow margins.
We know the rates are not enough. We hear it every day from agencies across the state: struggling to cover costs, losing staff, and turning away families. But unless we say it publicly, decision-makers will assume we’re fine with the status quo.
Silence will be read as consent.
HCP has created letter templates as a starting point. Please take 15 minutes to add your agency’s story and send a letter to your local paper. Legislators and the public need to see the real-world impact of underfunded home care, and they won’t if we don’t tell them.
